Convenient Horses and Extended Follower Framework Issues

Haven't been able to find a solution to either

-Vanilla followers will not ride horses

-Followers added by mods (merged [population] mod) can not be talked to after recruiting (no activation icon appears) but they will mount horses... it's a cruel joke.

can anyone at least confirm they do not have the same issues?
